Medsin Southhampton Conference - March 2007

 

 

Dr Frank Olaleye - WISH for Africa founder, spoke on behalf of the charity at the Southampton Medical School on March 3rd 2007.



Theme: 'Improving Access to Healthcare - What can WE do?'

Medsin Southampton have succeeded in introducing a Global Health Student Selected Component into their third year curriculum and in March 2007, they invited Wish For Africa to speak at an exciting and thought-provoking one-day conference.

Dr Frank Olaleye, the founder of Wish For Africa delivered a presentation titled ' The Third Way Option for improving access to Healthcare in Africa - Wish For Africa as a case study'

Other speakers at the well-attended and interactive conference include:

  • Dr Michael Roe - Consultant Paediatrician at Southampton General Hospital
  • Dr Rhona MacDonald - Editor, The Lancet
  • Mike Rowson - Formerly of Medact

Speakers and delegates all suggested ways in which students can get involved and take a stance in challenging health inequalities around the world.
