Objectives of the Charity
As a charitable trust, WISH 4 AFRICA intends to organise fund-raising events and collect donations from individuals and corporate funding partners with the view to use these funds to carry out the following objects in the deprived and needy areas and communities of Africa ;
- Relief of financial hardship - Through provision of micro-finance and small grants to members of the healthcare community e.g. doctors, nurses, pharmacists, TBAs etc. This objective will help to relieve hardship and poverty faced by these important workers in the community who do not have access to such funding via traditional financial institutions.
- Promotion of medical education - Through training of personnel and research. Medical and midwifery personnel in healthcare establishments in African communities are to be assisted in improving their skills by facilitating exchange programs aimed at encouraging transfer of skills and knowledge.
- Promotion of health - Through public education and provision of medical facilities. Wish for Africa is setting up a network of community based healthcare units to promote the delivery of affordable and good quality healthcare. Wish for Africa shall support preventative methods of healthcare through funding of immunisation programs for children and other vulnerable groups.
- Urban and rural regeneration - Through capacity-building activities and development projects by funding local healthcare businesses like pharmacy shops and maternity centres. Improving the overall health outcomes of the community adds to the overall wealth of that community. Wish for Africa will support other development projects in the community, particularly those with measurable health impact e.g. building a well for a local community or a school meal programme.
