VSO Health Placements

Volunteering with VSO is a chance to use your skills to make a tangible contribution to fighting poverty and health inequalities around the world. Qualified and experienced health professionals are urgently needed in Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda, Cameroun, Namibia and Malawi to work in health, HIV and AIDS, and disability.

VSO shall provide the following if you volunteer to travel to any of the above countries:

  • a living allowance, accommodation, insurance and flights
  • individually tailored training, support and advice pre-departure
  • networking opportunities with other volunteers
  • support, grants and advice to help you settle in, on your return to your home country.

Volunteer Jobs (1-2 years): Each year, hundreds of people start rewarding jobs as volunteers in developing countries. Volunteers say they return to their own country equipped with invaluable professional experience, a wealth of memories, and a whole new perspective on life.

Please note: VSO recruits volunteers of any nationality who live in:

  • The European Economic Area (The EU, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland)
  • The US and Canada
  • Kenya and Uganda (Kenyan and Ugandan nationals only)
  • Philippines (Filipino nationals only)
  • India (Indian nationals only)

Specialist Assignments (1-6 months): Short-term opportunities are aimed at highly experienced professionals who can provide advice at senior levels. The assignments can last from 2 weeks to 6 months. >>Click here<< to find out more about Specialist Assignments with VSO.

Please note: VSO is only recruiting volunteers who are residents in the European Economic Area.

Youth Programmes (for those aged 18-25): There are several opportunities to become a part of several VSO Youth programmes such as Global Xchamge and YfD. However, apllications are only open to UK residents only. Please >>click here<< for more details.
